Perpetual futures position limits

Limits on perpetual future trading in the Omen Funded Trading Program

Two limits control how much perpetual futures exposure you can take: a per-asset limit and an account limit. Both are based on your account tier (for example, $10,000), not your current balance, so they stay the same for the life of the account.

Per-asset limit

Each asset has a multiplier. The largest position you can hold in that asset, long or short, is that multiplier multiplied by your account tier. For example, 3× on a $10,000 account means you can hold a position with up to $30,000 of exposure. Position size is measured as notional value: the number of contracts times the current mark price.

The limit is cumulative. Adding to an existing position counts toward it, so that $30,000 can be one trade or several smaller ones.

Account limit

All of your open positions share one allowance of 100%. Each position uses a share equal to its size divided by that asset's limit. A new order is rejected if it would take the total above 100%.

For example, on a $10,000 account, a $15,000 BTC long uses 50% (of a $30,000 limit) and a $6,000 ETH short uses 30% (of a $20,000 limit). The remaining 20% can go into any asset, measured against that asset's own limit: up to $3,000 of LINK (1.5×, $15,000 limit), or $500 of a 0.25× asset. A $5,000 SOL position would need 25% and is rejected.

Maximum leverage

Leverage is capped at 10× on every asset, and lower on many. The table below lists each asset's maximum. Leverage changes how much margin a position needs; it does not raise the position limit.

On TRX and PAXG, a position larger than $3,000,000 (reachable only on a $1,000,000 account) is limited to 5× leverage.

Any crypto asset added after this list was published has a 0.25× position limit by default.

Commodities, indices and FX

These markets also have a fixed dollar limit that does not grow with account size, because their liquidity is thinner. Your limit is the lower of 0.25× your account tier and the fixed dollar limit.

Good to know

  • Closing is always allowed. Reducing or closing a position is never blocked by these limits.

  • Price moves don't cause positions to close if they move above the limit. The same applies if a price move takes your account over 100%. You can't open or add to positions until there is room again.

  • Flipping sides. If one order takes you from long to short, only the new short position counts toward your limits.

  • Delisted markets are close-only. You can close an existing position, but you can't open or add to one.

  • Minimum order size is $10 for orders that open or add to a position.
